![]() This essay aims to analyse in this young adult trilogy the figure of the vampire, which is intrinsically linked to the Gothic, and how it relates to the concept of undead memory. An inhospitable world, plagued by darkness and terror, Denver is an isolated city, in which it is possible to identify common themes to dystopian literature. After supernatural beings revealed their presence to the humans, a conflict arose for the supremacy and eradication of these two groups – a conflict that ends with a treaty in which protection is given to the humans who live within the walls that separate them from the desolation inhabited by vampires but only in exchange for a monthly blood offer.
